Excursions in Goslar

Thanks to its location on the northern edge of the Harz Mountains, Goslar is an excellent starting point for exploring forests, hills and varied mountain landscapes. The area around Hahnenklee and Bocksberg is particularly well suited to walking, hiking and active days outdoors.

The Oker Reservoir is another attractive destination from Goslar. Surrounded by wooded hills, it offers a scenic setting for relaxed outings as well as longer walks and hikes through the surrounding landscape.

Goslar itself has plenty to explore for several hours. Its historic old town with traditional half-timbered houses can easily be combined with a visit to Rammelsberg, bringing together the city's history, mining heritage and its close connection to the Harz Mountains.

With more time available, Hahnenklee, Bocksberg and the Oker Reservoir are natural next stops. For a full-day trip, expand your radius farther into the Harz Mountains and combine different towns, viewpoints and outdoor experiences.

Several day trips from Goslar are possible without a car. The railway station provides connections across the region, while buses serve additional destinations in the Harz Mountains. This makes it possible to combine sightseeing in town with selected nature trips using public transport.

For hiking trips, plan your outward and return journeys together and pay particular attention to the final connection back to Goslar. Well-connected nearby destinations work well for spontaneous outings, while longer trips into the Harz Mountains benefit from a little more planning.
